Leaf Area Index (LAI) Response to Plant Density: A Plateau Effect

When the density was at a low level, there was a significant increase in the maximum leaf area index (LAI) per unit area as density increased. However, when the density reached a high level, the LAI increased gradually until it reached a maximum value, after which it remained constant (reached a plateau).
