Desmond T. Doss: The Conscientious Objector Who Became a War Hero

Desmond T. Doss enlisted in the US Army during World War II because he felt it was his duty to serve his country and defend the freedoms that America stands for. Despite being a devout Seventh-day Adventist and a conscientious objector, he believed that he could serve his country without compromising his religious beliefs by becoming a medic and refusing to carry a weapon. He wanted to help save lives on the battlefield and provide medical aid to his fellow soldiers. His bravery and selflessness in the face of danger earned him the Congressional Medal of Honor, the highest military honor in the United States.
