Rural-Urban Income Disparity Drives Health Inequalities
The economic disparity between rural and urban residents is another reason for health inequalities. Wang et al. (2003) and Xie (2009) found that income-related health disparities are more pronounced among those living in rural areas. The authors suggest that as income disparities increase and healthcare systems undergo reform, the gap in health disparities will continue to widen.
