Rural Health Disparities: Income Inequality and Healthcare Reform

The economic disparity is the second reason for the differences in health. The gap in income-related health inequalities is more pronounced among people living in rural areas compared to those in urban areas, according to Wang et al. (2003) and Xie (2009). The authors suggest that as income disparity increases and healthcare systems undergo reform, the health disparity will continue to worsen.
