They have a flattened body and are typically brown or reddish-brown in color.

Centipedes are found worldwide in various habitats, including forests, deserts, and urban areas. They are primarily nocturnal creatures, hiding in dark, moist places during the day and becoming active at night. Centipedes are carnivorous and feed on other small invertebrates, such as insects, spiders, and worms. They use their venomous jaws to inject toxins into their prey, paralyzing them before consuming them.

While most centipedes are harmless to humans, some larger species can deliver painful bites that may cause localized swelling and discomfort. However, their venom is not usually dangerous unless a person has an allergic reaction. Centipedes play an important role in ecosystems as both predators and prey, contributing to the balance of the food chain
