Cargo Fuel Seepage Detected at Terminal, Remediation Efforts Underway

Our surveyor conducted an inspection of the cargo at the terminal on July 27 and 28. The cargo pile remains unchanged and is still stored in the D1 open yard. To ensure its safety, the cargo pile is surrounded by flood prevention sandbags and covered with protective nets. No traces of fuel were found outside of the sandbags. However, when the net was lifted, fuel was observed seeping from the bottom of the cargo pile.

The terminal has informed us that they are closely monitoring the condition of the cargo pile. The rate of fuel seepage is relatively slow, and they are currently implementing regular clean-up measures to address the seeped fuel. The pollutants are being temporarily collected and placed in pollution collection barrels near the cargo pile.

Although the terminal has not yet disclosed the next steps of the cargo handling plan, they have mentioned that they are in ongoing discussions with the consignee to determine the best course of action.
