Title: Comparative Study of Key Words in Chinese and American Editorials Based on Semantic Network
Abstract: This paper aims to compare the key words used in Chinese and American editorials by using semantic network analysis. A total of 100 editorials, 50 from Chinese newspapers and 50 from American newspapers, were selected as the research objects. The results show that the key words used in Chinese editorials focus more on national policies and social issues, while the key words in American editorials are more related to international affairs and political events. In addition, the semantic network analysis also reveals the differences in the semantic associations between the key words used in Chinese and American editorials.

Introduction
Editorials are an important form of media communication that reflect the opinions and attitudes of newspapers towards various social and political issues. With the increasing globalization of media, the editorial discourse of different countries has gradually become interconnected and influenced by each other. Therefore, it is of great significance to compare the key words used in Chinese and American editorials in order to understand the similarities and differences in the editorial discourse of these two countries.
Methodology
In this study, a total of 100 editorials were selected as the research objects, 50 from Chinese newspapers and 50 from American newspapers. The key words used in these editorials were extracted and analyzed by using the semantic network analysis method. The semantic network was constructed based on the co-occurrence relationship between the key words, and the centrality and modularity of the network were calculated to reveal the key words that play important roles in the semantic network.
Results
The results show that the key words used in Chinese editorials focus more on national policies and social issues, such as economic development, social welfare, and environmental protection. In contrast, the key words in American editorials are more related to international affairs and political events, such as terrorism, diplomacy, and military intervention. In addition, the semantic network analysis also reveals the differences in the semantic associations between the key words used in Chinese and American editorials. For example, the key words "China" and "United States" have a strong association in the American editorials, while in the Chinese editorials, the key words "economic development" and "social welfare" have a strong association.
Conclusion
In conclusion, this study provides a comparative analysis of the key words used in Chinese and American editorials based on semantic network analysis. The findings suggest that the editorial discourse in China and the United States has different focuses and semantic associations, reflecting the different social and political contexts of these two countries. This study contributes to the understanding of the editorial discourse in different countries and provides a new perspective for the study of media communication.
