风急天高猿啸哀，渚清沙白鸟飞回。 无边落木萧萧下，不尽长江滚滚来。 万里悲秋常作客，百年多病独登台。 艰难苦恨繁霜鬓，潦倒新停浊酒杯。

Ascending Heights

Tang Dynasty: Du Fu

The wind is fierce and the sky is high, with the monkeys howling mournfully; The clear waters and white sands see the birds returning in flight. Endless leaves fall rustling down, while the Yangtze River rolls on endlessly. For thousands of miles, autumn is a sorrowful time for the traveler, and for a hundred years, illness has led me to climb this tower alone. Difficulties and sorrows have turned my hair frosty white, and now, in my misery, I lay down my cup of wine.
