As a nursing undergraduate, I decided to cross over to the field of public health and preventive medicine for several reasons. First and foremost, nursing and public health share a common goal of promoting health and preventing diseases. However, public health takes a more holistic and population-based approach, which I find fascinating and challenging.

In terms of my advantage in crossing over, my nursing background has provided me with a solid foundation in anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, and patient care. These skills and knowledge are highly relevant to public health, as it involves identifying risk factors, designing and implementing interventions, and evaluating their effectiveness. Moreover, my clinical experience has exposed me to various health issues and disparities that exist in the community, which has driven me to explore ways to tackle these problems at a population level.

In preparation for this transition, I have taken courses in epidemiology, biostatistics, health policy, and environmental health. I have also participated in research projects that involve analyzing health data and developing health promotion strategies. Additionally, I have volunteered in community health programs and attended public health conferences to broaden my perspectives on global health issues and best practices.

Overall, I believe that my nursing background and my passion for improving population health make me a strong candidate for the public health and preventive medicine program at Fudan University.
