POEM: A Comprehensive Eczema Impact Questionnaire

The Patient-Oriented Eczema Measure (POEM) is a widely used self-report questionnaire that assesses the impact of eczema on patients' daily lives. Numerous studies have demonstrated the reliability and validity of the POEM in clinical practice2,41,42,43. The questionnaire consists of 7 items, each inquiring about the frequency of specific eczema symptoms (such as dry and flaky skin, bleeding, sleep loss) over the past week. Patients are required to select an option that accurately reflects the frequency of their symptoms from the following choices: 0 days, 1-2 days, 3-4 days, 5-6 days, or every day1. The POEM score ranges from 0 to 28.
