LU Huapu is a renowned Chinese academician and transportation engineer currently serving as the Director of the Institute of Transportation Engineering at Tsinghua University. He has made significant contributions to the field of transportation engineering, particularly in the areas of transport planning, traffic safety, and intelligent transportation systems.

Born on January 12, 1959, in Jiangsu Province, China, LU Huapu received his Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from Tongji University in Shanghai in 1982. He then went on to pursue a Master's degree in Traffic Engineering at the same university before completing his PhD in Transportation Engineering at Tsinghua University in 1991.

After completing his PhD, LU Huapu joined the faculty of Tsinghua University's School of Civil Engineering, where he has served in various capacities, including as the Dean of the School of Transportation Engineering and as the Director of the National Engineering Laboratory for Integrated Transportation Big Data Application Technology.

With over 30 years of experience in transportation engineering, LU Huapu has authored over 300 academic papers and several books, including "Urban Transport Planning", "Transportation Engineering", and "Traffic Safety Analysis and Countermeasures". He has also received numerous awards and honors for his contributions to the field, including the National Science and Technology Progress Award, the National Outstanding Youth Science Foundation Award, and the National Excellent Doctoral Dissertation Award.

As the Director of the Institute of Transportation Engineering at Tsinghua University, LU Huapu continues to lead research efforts in transportation engineering and promote the development of sustainable and efficient transportation systems in China and around the world.
