Leaf Area Index Increases with Plant Density: A Plateau Effect

The maximum leaf area index (LAI) per unit area significantly increased with increasing density until it reached a plateau. This suggests that there is an optimal density for maximizing leaf area, beyond which further increases in density do not lead to increased LAI.
