Overestimation of Plant Density in Agricultural Fields: A Critical Review of Liu et al. (2021) and Luo et al. (2020)

Liu et al. (2021) and Luo et al. (2020) used statistical models to overestimate the plant density, with an average plant density of 10.9 × 104 plants ha−1 and 9.4 × 104 plants ha−1, respectively. These studies, while valuable contributions to the field, rely on statistical models that may not accurately capture the complex spatial distribution of plants in agricultural fields. This overestimation can have significant implications for resource management, yield prediction, and crop health assessments. A more thorough analysis of the limitations and potential biases inherent in these statistical models is warranted to ensure accurate and reliable estimates of plant density.
