This paper performs a security analysis of a color image encryption algorithm called CIEA-IOCM. The algorithm claims to be resistant to common attacks, but we found that it can be easily cracked using a chosen-plaintext attack method. The reason for this vulnerability is the existence of equivalent keys for the permutation and diffusion processes, as well as the possibility of combining and simplifying the linear transformation. Our successful security attack demonstrates the need for improving the security of chaotic image encryption algorithms.
