Increased Planting Density Boosts Maize Yield in North America

In North America, the optimal planting density increased by approximately 18,000 plants per hectare (ha-1), resulting in a yield increase of 3.5 metric tons per hectare (Mg ha-1). The planting density contributed to a maize yield gain ranging from 8.5% to 17%. These findings were reported in a study published in the journal 'Nature Communications'.
