A Bibliometric Analysis of Carbon Finance and Carbon Markets Research: Trends, Key Players, and Research Frontiers (1992-2022)

Although some studies have explored similar concepts, there is a lack of literature in terms of individual research articles that specifically examine carbon finance and carbon markets. Moreover, most of the studies only utilize one database, resulting in a relatively narrow scope of topics and time span. Therefore, this paper conducts a bibliometric analysis of articles published in the past 30 years (1992-2022) using the Web of Science and Scopus databases, aiming to provide a statistical and factual overview of the research trends in carbon finance and carbon markets. Our research objectives are to identify influential countries, institutions, and scholars, determine the leading journals in publishing research on carbon finance and carbon markets, and identify the research frontiers and topics in the field of carbon finance and carbon markets.
