An electric motor comprising: an electrically grounded motor housing; a motor shaft, which is disposed within the housing and rotates during motor operation; a static charge removal component, which is associated with the shaft and the housing, the removal component comprising: a circular frame, which surrounds the shaft and is fixed and spot-welded to the housing, the frame defining a circular groove surrounding the shaft; a plurality of conductive wires, which are electrically connected to the circular frame, the wires being fine enough to cause ionization when subjected to an electric field of static charge on the shaft, the wires having distal portions disposed within the groove.

A static charge removal component associated with a motor shaft, the removal component comprising: a circular frame, which surrounds the shaft and is fixed and electrically connected to an electrically grounded housing of the motor, the frame comprising first and second frame members defining a circular groove; a plurality of conductive wires, which are electrically connected to the circular frame, the wires being fine enough to cause ionization when subjected to an electric field of static charge on the shaft, the wires being maintained between the first and second frame members and having distal portions disposed within the groove.

An electric motor comprising: an electrically grounded motor housing with a panel; a motor shaft, which is disposed within the housing and extends through a hole in the panel; a static charge removal component, which is configured to surround the shaft and is secured within the hole in the panel. The removal component comprises: a circular frame, which surrounds the shaft and is fixed within the hole in the panel. The frame comprises first and second frame members defining a circular groove surrounding the shaft. A plurality of conductive wires is held between the frame members, the wires being fine enough to cause ionization when subjected to an electric field of static charge on the shaft, the wires having distal portions disposed within the groove.
