Some university students tend to learn about other subjects despite of main subjects while others believe that all their time and attention should be spent studying for a qualification. From my point of view, both opinions have pros and cons.
\nOn the one hand, involving university students themselves in other subjects contains many advantages. Firstly, students can get to know some other aspects and cultivate their critical thinking abilities by viewing questions or issues from several aspects at the same time. Besides, such general education based on the willingness of students is likely to help students to find their aspirations to knowledge, and even illuminate their career path. However, people should concern that if university students accept extensive education, their learning results of main subjects are possibly less reliable than that of only learning main subjects.
\nOn the other hand, some students in university choose to study for a qualification. It is true that compared with decades ago, university students are faced with more pressure. For example, many outstanding graduates have to compete for one position though all of them may have been excellent. If they want to show their high proficiency or strong abilities, a pile of certifications is always a must. As taking exams is the most convenient way, students always devote themselves to studying questions to pass the certification exams. However, the inner hope of students may be killed in pursuing their dream lifestyle.
\nIn conclusion, whichever ways university students prepare to start with, they have to burden their personal and social responsibility.
