A total of 160 wild sea cucumbers from eight different locations in China were used for chemical composition and nutrient content analysis, as well as for resequencing and whole-genome association analysis of nutritional traits. The results of the analysis showed variations in the chemical composition and nutrient content of the body wall of sea cucumbers from different locations. Further whole-genome association analysis identified SNPs and candidate genes significantly associated with the nutritional traits of sea cucumbers. The research results provide valuable resources for genetic analysis of high-nutrient quality traits in sea cucumbers and the breeding of new varieties.
