Breast Cancer: Global Prevalence, Survival Rates, and the Importance of Holistic Care

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), breast cancer is the most common cancer among adults, with over 2.3 million cases occurring annually. It's either the leading or second leading cause of cancer-related deaths in women in 95% of countries. Interestingly, research has revealed a correlation between a country's level of human development and the incidence of breast cancer. As development levels increase, so does the occurrence of breast cancer. Despite this trend, in more developed regions, the overall 5-year survival rate for breast cancer exceeds 80%. This underscores the significance of addressing the holistic well-being of patients, including their physical and psychological health. To better evaluate the quality of life in terms of health, various tools have been devised to measure patients' health status utility (HSU), which are more suitable for detecting different types of diseases.
