Work Experience vs. Academia: Which is Better for Career Preparation?

A rising trend gaining traction in society is the increasing emphasis on better preparing students for their future careers. People hold different views regarding the benefits of improving academic knowledge versus gaining career experiences. While there are advantages to studying in college, I would argue that gaining work experience is a more effective way to prepare for one's future career.
