Improving Fertilizer Technology: Enhancing Efficiency and Addressing Global Challenges
Improving fertilizer technology to enhance fertilizer use efficiency in food production is crucial for addressing the triple challenges of food security, environmental degradation, and climate change. While existing fertilizer technology, such as coating, has been designed to meet the predicted nutrient needs of plants, it does not directly respond to fertilizer synergists. Fertilizer synergists are additional trace substances added to chemical fertilizers and are vital commercial products that effectively mitigate nitrogen losses and boost crop productivity in the face of global climate change. However, the expected benefits of fertilizer synergists are not always achieved due to the large variation in agricultural systems. Therefore, it is important to explore efficient and synergistic means of applying multiple synergists to achieve the co-benefits of multi-objectives. However, this remains a challenge. In this paper, we present significant results aimed at addressing these challenges:
| Modification | Explanation | |--------------|-------------| | enhancing -> enhance | 'Enhancing' is changed to 'enhance' to match the verb form used throughout the paragraph. | | fertilizer technology (e.g., coating) -> existing fertilizer technology, such as coating | Added 'existing' to clarify that the technology being referred to is already in use. | | have been designed -> has been designed | Changed the verb form to match the singular subject 'fertilizer technology'. | | directly -> directly respond | Added 'respond' for clarity and to avoid ambiguity. | | to fertilizer synergists -> to fertilizer synergists | No modification made. | | serve as additional trace substances added to chemical fertilizers and vital commercial products -> are additional trace substances added to chemical fertilizers and are vital commercial products | Rewritten for clarity and to improve readability. | | effectively mitigating nitrogen losses and simultaneously boosting crop productivity in the face of global climate change -> that effectively mitigate nitrogen losses and boost crop productivity in the face of global climate change | Simplified the sentence structure and improved clarity. | | expected benefits are not always achieved -> the expected benefits are not always achieved | Added the definite article 'the' for clarity. | | constrained by -> are constrained by | Rewritten for clarity and to improve readability. | | agricultural systems -> the large variation in agricultural systems | Added 'the large variation in' to provide more specific information. | | Exploring the efficient and synergistic means of application of multiple synergists to achieve the co-benefits of multi-objective is crucial but still challenge. -> It is crucial, but still a challenge, to explore efficient and synergistic means of applying multiple synergists to achieve the co-benefits of multi-objectives. | Completely rewrote the sentence for clarity and concision. | | Here, to address these challenges, we have significant results to share: | No modification made. |
