Improving fertilizer technology is crucial for enhancing fertilizer use efficiency in food production, as it can help address the triple challenges of food security, environmental degradation, and climate change. Although existing fertilizer technology, such as coating, has been designed to meet the predicted nutrient needs of plants, it does not directly respond to fertilizer synergists. Fertilizer synergists are additional trace substances added to chemical fertilizers and are important commercial products that can effectively mitigate nitrogen losses and boost crop productivity in the face of global climate change. However, the expected benefits of fertilizer synergists are not always achieved due to the large variation in agricultural systems. Therefore, it is essential to explore efficient and synergistic methods of applying multiple synergists to achieve the co-benefits of multi-objectives. However, this remains a challenging task. In this paper, we will address these challenges and present our significant findings.
