意识起源之争:全局工作空间理论与整合信息理论
Currently, there is an ongoing debate between two major theories of consciousness. The global workspace theory posits that consciousness emerges from the dissemination of information in the global workspace, encompassing the prefrontal cortex, thalamus, and subcortical areas. On the other hand, the integrated information theory (IIT) argues that the neural correlates of consciousness reside in a posterior hot spot within the cortical region at the back of the human brain. The dispute surrounding the origin of consciousness primarily centers around the significance of either the anterior or posterior regions of the brain. However, recent discussions have also shed light on another topic, namely, brain lateralization or asymmetry, which delves into the role of the left and right hemispheres in relation to consciousness.
