rTMS Stimulation for Vegetative State Patients: A 10-Day Program and One-Year Follow-Up

A group of 20 patients diagnosed with vegetative state (VS) participated in a 10-day program of rTMS stimulation. To evaluate the patients' responsiveness to rTMS, resting-state EEG recordings and behavioral scales were conducted before and after the treatment. The quantification of hemispheric asymmetry was achieved through the spectral and synchronization asymmetry index. Additionally, the Disability Rating Scale (DRS) was utilized during a one-year follow-up period to assess the patients' functional status.
