Exploring the Impact of Left PPC rTMS on Hemispheric Asymmetry in Disorders of Consciousness
Hemispheric asymmetry, a notable characteristic of the human brain, still lacks clarity regarding its importance in patients with disorders of consciousness (DOC). The posterior parietal cortex (PPC) has been associated with the preservation of consciousness. Through the modulation of cortical excitability, repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) has shown the ability to restore consciousness in certain patients. In this study, we examined the influence of 10 Hz rTMS, targeting the left PPC, on hemispheric asymmetry in patients with DOC.
