A Noisy Journey: Reflections on Public Noise in China
A Very Noisy Place\n\nLast year during the Mid-Autumn Festival holiday, I went back to my hometown with my mother to visit my grandma. We took the high-speed train from Guangzhou South Station. \n\nAs we arrived at the station, we noticed that it was crowded with people. Many adults were accompanied by their children, most of whom were going back to their hometowns to visit their relatives. The atmosphere was lively, and the excitement of the holiday was palpable.\n\nHowever, the noise at the station was overwhelming. Even after we boarded the train, the chaos continued. Some people were talking loudly on their phones, seemingly unaware of the discomfort they were causing to others. Others were engrossed in watching Tiktok videos, with the volume turned up high.\n\nUnfortunately, the creation of noise in public places is not uncommon in China. It is a cultural phenomenon that has been observed for quite some time. This behavior often leads to conflicts between individuals and has been frequently reported in the news. It is my hope that one day, this uncivilized behavior will be improved.\n\nExcessive noise not only disturbs the peace and tranquility of others in public spaces but also reflects a lack of respect for others. It is important for individuals to be mindful of the impact their actions have on those around them. By practicing good manners and considering the well-being of others, we can create a more harmonious and pleasant environment for everyone.\n\nIn conclusion, my experience at Guangzhou South Station during the Mid-Autumn Festival holiday was marred by the excessive noise created by the passengers. It is my sincere hope that this issue of noise pollution in public places will be addressed and improved, promoting a more civilized society.
