Moderately Liberal Fluid Regimen May Be Safer Than Restrictive Regimen: Study Findings

One of the limitations of the study is that it only assessed fluid balance on the day of the operation and the first postoperative day. The weight gain and positive fluid balance observed were relatively minimal. This indicates that a moderately liberal administration of a balanced salt solution, rather than using 0.9% saline, does not lead to significant fluid retention. Therefore, a moderately liberal fluid regimen may be considered safer than a truly restrictive regimen.
