Having separate power and ground pins enables the output drivers to be disconnected from the analog circuitry. It is important to connect the power supply for the digital output buffers, known as OVDD, to the same power supply as the logic being driven. For instance, if the converter is operating a DSP powered by a 1.8V supply, OVDD should also be connected to that same 1.8V supply.
