The pervasive nature of violent content in media can have a detrimental impact on individuals, particularly by desensitizing them to real-life violence. For example, research has shown that repeated exposure to violent media can numb individuals to the severity and impact of violence, making them more likely to engage in aggressive behavior themselves. A study conducted by Anderson and Bushman (2001) found that individuals who were exposed to violent media were more likely to exhibit aggressive behavior compared to those who were not. This demonstrates that violent films and television can have a detrimental effect on individuals' behavior, leading to an increase in crimes.

Furthermore, banning violent films and television can help to protect vulnerable individuals, particularly children, from the negative influence of such content. Children are more susceptible to the effects of media violence, as their brains are still developing and they have limited ability to distinguish between reality and fiction.
