Involving Community Organizations in Mental Health Policy: A Motion from France
Motion 1: Encouraging Member States to Establish Collaborative Partnerships
Delegate of France,
Recognizing the importance of involving community-based organizations, non-governmental organizations, and relevant stakeholders in the design, implementation, and evaluation of mental health policies and programs,
Emphasizing the need for Member States to establish collaborative partnerships with these entities to ensure comprehensive and effective mental health policies and programs,
Acknowledging the role of community-based organizations and non-governmental organizations in providing grassroots support, raising awareness, and advocating for the mental health needs of vulnerable populations,
Aware that involving relevant stakeholders in the decision-making process leads to more inclusive and responsive mental health policies and programs,
Hereby urges all Member States to actively involve community-based organizations, non-governmental organizations, and relevant stakeholders in the design, implementation, and evaluation of mental health policies and programs;
Further urges Member States to establish collaborative partnerships with these entities, creating channels for meaningful engagement, information sharing, and resource allocation;
Calls upon Member States to allocate adequate resources and support to community-based organizations, non-governmental organizations, and relevant stakeholders to ensure their effective participation in mental health policy development and implementation;
Requests the World Health Organization (WHO) and other relevant international organizations to provide technical assistance and capacity-building support to Member States in establishing and strengthening partnerships with community-based organizations, non-governmental organizations, and relevant stakeholders;
Encourages Member States to share best practices and lessons learned in involving community-based organizations, non-governmental organizations, and relevant stakeholders in mental health policy and program development, thus fostering a global exchange of knowledge and experiences.
