Surgical Intervention Guidelines for Gastric Cancer: Japanese Gastric Cancer Association Recommendations

Additional surgical intervention was advised for cases of incomplete resection, submucosal invasion beyond 500 μm, evidence of vascular or lymphatic infiltration by tumor cells, or positive lateral or vertical margins, as per the guidelines for gastric cancer treatment recommended by the Japanese Gastric Cancer Association. Other factors that may warrant further surgical intervention include the presence of lymph node metastasis or distant metastasis, tumor size larger than 4 cm, or the presence of poorly differentiated histology. It is important to carefully assess these factors and tailor the treatment plan to the individual patient's needs.
