By using the slope function to analyze the changes in vegetation coverage and vegetation health index, observing the changes in the water area of Poyang Lake area, and constructing the TVDI model using vegetation index NDVI and land surface temperature LST, the spatial and temporal distribution characteristics and trends of drought are analyzed.

The research results of this article are as follows: Firstly, from July to October 2022, except for the original Poyang Lake water area, the vegetation coverage in other areas of Poyang Lake showed a different degree of decline. Secondly, from July to October 2022, the water area of Poyang Lake decreased by 68.9%, indicating that the water source of Poyang Lake and its sources are severely insufficient, and the drought situation in the Poyang Lake area is serious. Based on the analysis results of the TVDI model, it can be seen that the drought situation in the Poyang Lake area showed an increasing trend from July to October 2022.

In conclusion, the research results of this article indicate that the ecological environment of the Poyang Lake area was severely affected by drought from July to October 2022, and effective measures need to be taken to alleviate it.
