Yellow River Basin Water Pollution: Challenges and Solutions

The Yellow River Basin is one of the largest river basins in China, covering multiple provinces with a large population and intensive economic and human activities. The contradiction between water resources supply and demand is prominent, and the water environment problems are severe. The spatial distribution of water pollutant emissions in the Yellow River Basin is consistent with the economic pattern, showing a clear step-wise distribution from upstream to downstream areas, with high emission intensity in provincial capital cities. To solve the water pollution problem in the Yellow River, it is necessary to further improve environmental engineering technology and methods and enhance the ability to control water pollution in the basin.
