Genre Analysis: Beyond Lexical Level - Discourse Organization and Contextualization

When it comes to the methods for conducting genre analysis, three points can be summarized: 'Textualization of lexico-grammar', 'Organization of discourse', and 'Contextualization of discourse'. Typically, in our academic writing, we tend to focus solely on the lexical aspect. This is evident in the previous works of many senior students, where analysis of verbs, adjectives, and modal verbs, tense and voice, parallel structures at the sentence level, imperative sentences, and coherence at the discourse level are the main focus. However, in this course, we also learned about the analysis of discourse organization and contextualization.
