Tangshan Nanhu: Transforming Mining Scars into a Vibrant Ecological Park

Tangshan Nanhu has carried out ecological restoration and transformation on mining waste land, making the barren mountains in mining areas green, turning mining waste land into farmland and orchards, and transforming mining subsidence areas into tourist and leisure places, transforming the former 'industrial scars' into fertile fields and beautiful scenery. After more than a decade of effort, Nanhu has now become a large-scale comprehensive ecological park that combines recreation, viewing, and water activities. As a rare large-scale urban lake in the north, Nanhu not only has scarce ecological characteristics, but also serves as a model for ecological restoration in mining subsidence areas, providing feasible reference for the governance and development of mining subsidence areas in Hebei Province and other regions across the country.
