Background and aims: The role of transforming growth factor β (TGFβ) in regulating angiogenesis is still a matter of debate. Despite the presence of abundant TGFβ and active angiogenesis in tumor microenvironment, emerging evidence suggests that TGFβ may actually have an inhibitory effect on angiogenesis. Therefore, the aim of this study was to investigate the mechanisms by which tumors are able to overcome the anti-angiogenic effects of TGFβ.
