Perceptually Optimized Video Coding: A Comprehensive Survey

Video coding is an essential component of modern multimedia systems. As the demand for high-quality video content continues to grow, video coding techniques are being constantly refined to improve the efficiency of video compression. However, traditional video coding techniques do not fully consider the characteristics of human visual perception, which can result in suboptimal video quality. Perceptually optimized video coding techniques have emerged as a solution to this problem, allowing for more efficient compression while maintaining high perceptual quality.
