Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA): Roles, Responsibilities & Training

CNAs (Certified Nursing Assistants) are healthcare professionals who provide basic care to patients in hospitals, nursing homes, and other healthcare settings. Their duties may include assisting with activities of daily living (such as bathing, dressing, and feeding), taking vital signs, helping patients move and transfer, and documenting patient information. CNAs must complete a state-approved training program and pass a competency exam to become certified. They work under the supervision of licensed nurses and other healthcare professionals.
