Enhanced Electro-Optic Modulator Performance at Cryogenic Temperatures: Achieving 14.7 GHz Bandwidth at 4.9 K
This study investigates an electro-optic modulator operating at a cryogenic temperature of 4.9 K, exhibiting an impressive bandwidth of 14.7 GHz. This surpasses the modulator's bandwidth at room temperature, which is 12.6 GHz. The primary limitation on the modulator's bandwidth is attributed to high contact resistance, as its intrinsic RC-limited bandwidth at 4.9 K is measured to be 200 GHz. These findings underscore the potential for developing high-bandwidth modulators operating at low temperatures, paving the way for advancements in optical communication and signal processing.
