A few weeks later, when I almost forgot the contest, there came the news. I won the first prize! I couldn't believe it. I had never thought that my writing could be recognized. The feeling of achievement was overwhelming. I realized that my social studies teacher was right. If I was willing to apply myself, I could do it.

I went to my teacher's office after the award presentation. He congratulated me and said, 'I knew you could do it. You have a gift for storytelling.' He gave me a book on writing and said, 'Keep writing, and never stop learning.' Those words stayed with me throughout my life. Writing has become my passion and my career. I owe it all to my social studies teacher who saw my potential and encouraged me to pursue it.
