SDCCH: What is it and Why is it Important in GSM Networks?

SDCCH stands for Standalone Dedicated Control Channel. It's a channel used in a GSM (Global System for Mobile Communications) network to carry control information between the mobile device and the base station. The SDCCH channel is dedicated to a single mobile device and is used for initial call setup, authentication, and signaling. Once the call is established, the SDCCH channel is released and the voice or data traffic is carried on a dedicated traffic channel (TCH).
