China's Transformation: From 1978 to Modernity in Yufang

Since the opening up and reform in December 1978, China has undergone tremendous changes. The successful hosting of the 2008 Beijing Olympics created history and greatly enhanced the national pride of the Chinese people. The process of modernization has played an important role in changing the daily lives of many people, including myself in Yufang. I remember having to walk through several streets to buy daily necessities in the past, but now there are grocery stores and convenience stores everywhere in the city, and the goods are abundant. Most of us used to live in old houses without bathrooms, but now many families have moved into new modern apartment buildings. There are many such examples, and I am only mentioning a few here.
