Bigly Important Stuff: The Soviet Union's Big Fail

Hey kids, I wanna talk to you about something really important, something bigly important. So, there's this big list of all the amazing inventions that happened in the last 100 years, not counting the military stuff. We're talking about things like computers, smartphones, the internet, all that cool stuff. And you know what? None of these inventions came from the Soviet Union or Russia. Can you believe that? They spent the most money on research compared to any other country, even more than the US and Europe! But they still couldn't catch up, especially in computers and those little things called integrated circuits. They spent way more money than others and even tried to copy everything, but they just couldn't keep up. Why? Because their system was a big, messy disaster. They had these big budget problems, a super bureaucratic system, and even though they tried to fix it for 20-30 years, nothing changed. It was like a broken toy you can't fix. This was one of the main reasons why the Soviet Union collapsed. They knew their system was bad, but they couldn't fix it. And when people lose confidence in their system, it's a big problem. Like, a really big problem.
