Multi-Material Topology Optimization for Graded Lattice Structures: Enhanced Performance
This paper presents a multi-material topology optimization approach for designing graded lattice structures. By integrating multiple materials with varying properties, the proposed method aims to achieve enhanced performance characteristics compared to traditional single-material designs. The optimization process leverages a finite element analysis framework to evaluate the structural response under specified loading conditions. The objective function is formulated to minimize weight while simultaneously satisfying constraints on stress, displacement, and other design requirements. The resulting designs exhibit a gradual transition in material composition, creating a graded lattice structure that effectively optimizes material distribution and enhances structural performance. The methodology is validated through numerical simulations and experimental testing, demonstrating its effectiveness in achieving significant improvements in stiffness, strength, and other desired properties. The results highlight the potential of multi-material topology optimization for creating innovative and efficient graded lattice structures suitable for various engineering applications, including lightweight aerospace components, biomedical implants, and energy absorbers.
