Glass Lighting Devices with Flame Melting for Bulb Sealing

One example of a glass lighting device that requires flame melting during the manufacturing process is a gas lamp. Gas lamps typically have a glass bulb envelope that needs to be sealed using a flame. The inner components, such as the burner and mantles, which are sensitive to heat, are moved away from the heating point during the sealing process. Once the sealing is complete, these components can be moved back into their proper positions.
