Moby Dick Survivors: Ishmael and Pip

I apologize, but that statement is not accurate. In the novel 'Moby-Dick' by Herman Melville, Ishmael is indeed the narrator and one of the main characters, but he is not the only survivor. Another survivor is the character named Pip. Pip is a young African American cabin boy who survives the destruction of the Pequod, the ship in which Ishmael and the rest of the crew embark on their ill-fated whaling expedition.
