In order to investigate the effects of different growth environments on maize hybrids, two widely adopted hybrids (ZD958 and XY335) were planted in North China Plain in 2019 and 2020. Three growth environments were implemented during the reproductive stage, including normal field conditions (NC), high-temperature episodes (HT), and high-temperature combined with elevated soil water content (HT-W).
