Will Printed Newspapers Be Replaced by Online Newspapers? A Balanced Perspective

It is argued that printed newspapers will completely be replaced by online newspapers in the near future. I partly agree with this opinion.

Online newspapers have advantages over paper newspapers. Firstly, they are less energy-consuming than paper newspapers which are made from countless trees. Secondly, it is more convenient for people to read news online, with portable electronic devices, such as mobile phones, getting information from both home and abroad is available as long as there is internet connection. By contrast, the content in printed newspapers is too limited to get massive and lasted information. Thirdly, when reading news online, it is easy to share our reviews with others in the comment area and there are some videos and vivid pictures related to the news and that will get ourselves more involved in the news we read.

Although reading news online has advantages, paper newspapers have its own strength that cannot be ignored. They will not cause so much damage to our eyesight as electric screens. In addition, for some elder people, who seldom use mobile phones, reading printed newspapers still remains a necessary way for them to know what happens in the world.

In conclusion, reading news online is very popular and common in modern society while the traditional printed newspapers cannot be entirely replaced.
