The Cowherd and Weaver Girl: A Timeless Chinese Love Story

The story of Niulang and Zhinü, also known as the Cowherd and Weaver Girl, tells the tale of a poor cowherd and his loyal cow who meet and fall in love with a heavenly weaver girl. The two marry and live a happy life of farming and weaving, until the Queen Mother of the West sends her divine beings to take Zhinü back to the heavens. Unable to be together, Niulang and Zhinü are only able to meet once a year on the seventh day of the seventh lunar month on the Magpie Bridge.
